Welcome to Mrs. King's Art Class Homepage!
As a student in Art 1st quarter, they will explore the foundations of art through a variety of projects based on the Elements and Principles of Design. A variety of media will be used, including: watercolor paint, acrylic paint, oil pastels, collage and digital media. Creativity, Design, craftsmanship and originality will be assessed through the use of the elements and principles of design. Good composition, visual organization, development of creative thinking, and visual problem solving will be emphasized through studio projects and art criticism.
I will guide the students to fully develop compositions that show excellence in concept, composition, and execution. I will encourage the students to take informed risks, explore materials and ideas, and invent art making processes as a personal form of expression.
In the primary and intermediate grades, the students’ works of art are assessed through a rubric. This process will allow students to build a vocabulary, apply standards, be self-critical and then, self-correct.
